  14. <p>   [Text] This morning a dispatch from the EFE news agency,
  15. datelined London, reports that the closure of the International
  16. Bank of Credit and Commerce, BCCI, is developing into a huge
  17. scandal after revelations that the bank served drug
  18. traffickers, terrorists, and financed arms sales to Iraq and
  19. Pakistan. I believe this is nothing new and is even less than
  20. the tip of the iceberg [preceding word in English] when it comes
  21. to illegal banking operations.
  22. </p>
  23. <p>   Furthermore, the revelations concerning this bank are
  24. serving to throw a smokescreen over other unresolved illegal
  25. operations, such as the Iran-Contra scandal and the various
  26. revelations that Gates, Bush's candidate for Central
  27. Intelligence Agency director, was involved in illegal maneuvers
  28. of the same type during the Reagan administration when Bush,
  29. ex-CIA director, was U.S. vice president.
  30. </p>
  31. <p>   A full investigation has never been done--and I do not
  32. believe one will be made--over how various Miami banks made
  33. their incredible fortunes. But there is evidence that they were
  34. involved in money laundering for drug traffickers and for the
  35. mafia that controls the huge business of the distribution of
  36. drugs in the United States, without question the largest drug
  37. market in the world.

  39. <p>   The CIA and the Drug Enforcement Administration [DEA], that
  40. is, the U.S. Government agency charged with combating drug
  41. trafficking, have been seriously involved in illegal activities
  42. related to narcotics trafficking. The CIA operated, among other
  43. things, air transport companies to carry out covert operations
  44. that included terrorist actions, drug trafficking, and money
  45. laundering. This is known in the United States and is known by
  46. international public opinion, but a dense cloud of smoke has
  47. been thrown over these illegal activities for obvious reasons.
  48. The DEA and the CIA have been involved in assassinations, money
  49. laundering, clandestine drug labs that manufacture
  50. hydrochlorate for the processing of cocaine, and the direct
  51. trafficking of narcotics.
  52. </p>
  53. <p>   In view of this, the scandal that is developing in London
  54. now in relation to the illegal activities of the BCCI is less
  55. than the tip of the iceberg, [preceding word in English] nothing
  56. more than a scapegoat, when it leaves in the dark the more
  57. serious cases, much more closely related to politics, like
  58. money laundering, drug trafficking, and assassinations related
  59. to these activities.
